Rabies alert in Walton County

The Florida Department of Health in Walton County has issued a rabies alert for the Freeport area. This is in response to a fox that tested positive on May 31, 2018.

Residents are urged to make sure that all domesticated animals are up to date on their vaccinations and to not let them roam free outside. Teach children not to approach wild animals, and do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract wild animals with outdoor food sources such as uncovered trash or litter.

Persons who have been bitten or scratched by wild or domestic animals should seek medical attention and report the injury to the DOH- Walton at 850-892-8021.

This alert is valid for 60 days.
