41 Chikungunya, 368 dengue cases in Bengaluru

There are 368 dengue cases and 41 confirmed chikungunya cases in the city so far and the numbers are expected to rise by the time monsoon ends.

BENGALURU:There are 368 dengue cases and 41 confirmed chikungunya cases in the city so far and the numbers are expected to rise by the time monsoon ends. However, what is reassuring is that the numbers are lesser than what it were last year during the same period.

Bangalore East reported the most number of dengue cases with 142 patients and Bangalore South had reported 18 Chikungunya cases.  Dr MN Lokesh, Chief Medical Officer, Public Health, BBMP, said, “We have mosquito control gangmen three per ward who undertake fogging, spraying larvicides and putting fish in water-stagnated areas. Number of hospitals that reported vector borne diseases have increased from
last year.”
