THIS GREEN SLIME UCF POOR -- YOU SEE AT PORT MAYAKA IS ALGAE. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF HIGH TOXIC LEVELS. OFFICIALS RELEASED THE INFORMATION DURING A MEETING AT THE SOUTH WATER DISTRICT THURSDAY MORNING AT WEST PALM BEACH. THE GREEN SLIME APPEARS TO BE MAKING ITS WAY TO THE SINK -- THE ST. LUCIE LOC AND DAM AND ALSO NEXT TO THE RIVERLAND MARINA. >> WE HAVE SEEN IT FILLING IN OUR BASIN HERE. EVERY WEEK, IT IS A LITTLE BIT WORSE. >> THEY ARE KEEPING AN EYE OUT FOR ANY FUTURE ALGAE BLOOMS. >> ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER IS GOING TO START SO WE WILL BE CHECKING ALL OF THE SITES. >> COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY THE REASON THEY WANT TO COLLECT THEIR OWN DATA IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE

Officials with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection confirm the samples taken from the water in Port Mayaca Monday afternoon tested positive for algae but did not contain high toxic levels.
