Both beaches were shut down due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed acceptable criteria

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY - Two Town of Babylon beaches have been closed down due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed acceptable criteria, according to Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James Tomarken.

Both Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Venetian Shore Beach in Lindenhurst were shut down.

Tomarken said that bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
