The Department of Primary Industry has confirmed another detection of citrus canker, this time in Marrakai.

Director for Biosecurity Sarah Corcoran said the infected plant was one of three potted citrus plants found on the property.

"The infected plant was found on a property in Marrakai that is more than two kilometres from the nearest commercial citrus premises," Ms Corcoran said.

A new restricted area has been declared in Marrakai, preventing the movement of all citrus plants.

A restricted area around Katherine has also been gazetted, following the discovery of citrus canker in the Cossack region last week.

The latest detection is the eighth confirmed infected premise in the NT.
