A boil water order has been issued for all of Rotterdam Junction-Pattersonville after yet another water main break.  The Schenectady County Department of Environmental Health issued the advisory in the Town of Rotterdam as a precautionary measure in response to a water main break.

Here is the order:

All CUSTOMERS IN ROTTERDAM JUNCTION-PATTERSONVILLE  HAVE BEEN ORDERED BY SCHENECTADY COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH TO BOIL ALL WATER FOR DRINKING AND CULINARY PURPOSES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The damage is currently being repaired.  Once water is restored residents should boil water until futher notice.  Residents will be informed via the media with additional information or when tests confirm that no harmful bacteria are in the system and you no longer need to boil your water.
