Conservation workers are hitting street catch basins with larvicide pellets to kill mosquito larvae and limit the spread of West Nile virus.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority has been contracted by Lambton County to apply larvicide throughout the summer and reduce mosquito populations.

The program began this week, and drivers are reminded to watch for stopped vehicles and employees treating catch basins.

Local residents are also encouraged to remove stagnant water on their property to control mosquitoes, and to report all dead bird sighting to the health unit.
