Fox being tested for rabies after biting south AL resident

SLOCOMB, AL (WSFA) - A fox is being tested for rabies after biting a Slocomb resident Wednesday.
According to Slocomb Police Department's Facebook page, the resident called officers after being bitten, but when they arrived, the fox could not be found.
Later, the fox reappeared and was shot by a neighbor who saw the earlier attack. Officers went to the scene again to retrieve the fox and took it to a veterinarian for rabies testing and diagnosis. The results will be released when the test is complete.
Anyone who notices domestic or wild animals acting unusually should not approach it and should call police. Pets should also be vaccinated for the rabies virus.
