Eight from Adarsh Nagar fall ill after drinking dirty water

MOHALI: As many as eight residents of Adarsh Nagar fell sick after drinking allegedly contaminated water. A team from health department collected two samples of water from the affected area.
After receiving complaint, the team from health department visited the area on Thursday. During the visit, the team inspected 30 houses in Adarsh Nagar and found eight persons complaining of vomiting.Resident alleged that contamination most probably occurred as a result of mixing of sewerage water with drinking water.
The health department team stated that the sewerage water allegedly mixed with the drinking water as a result of the repair work of a sewerage pipe line nearby. However, the municipal council later shifted the water pipeline. The team distributed 50 packets of ORS and 600 tablets of chlorine to residents in the area.
