In June, food recalls have hit the nation hard.

In Illinois. 90 people have fallen ill from eating a salad at McDonalds.

The salad contained a parasitic infection called Cyclosporiasis.

Now, the company has stopped selling salads until it finds a new supplier.

"Health care providers are encouraged to be asking their patients about any recent food ingestion," said Pat Schneider, a nurse practitioner for Memorial Health System.

McDonalds isn't the only company under a recall for a parasitic infection.

Kellogg’s conducted a voluntary recall in June, after people started to catch Salmonella from the company’s cereal, Honey Smacks.

Symptoms are similar for both illnesses and include diarrhea, fever and chills and vary from mild to severe.

People with a weak immune system, like younger children and the elderly, are at a greater risk of getting sick to the point of hospitalization.

"Since we're in two different outbreaks at this time, the public is encouraged to watch for these symptoms and seek help if they need any additional care," said Schneider.

The continued recalls have many parents worried.

"I feel like they're a big company and they should have quality control perfected at this point," said Amy Blasdel, an Illinois mom.

Others, said sometimes people overreact when they hear about a recall and don't wait to find out all the information.

"I think the main problem is just information and people being willing to think about where their food comes from," said Christine Micancin, an Illinois mom.

However, if a person’s food did come from a location with a recall, health experts said it's vital to avoid it at all costs.
