Duplin County Animal Services reports fourth case of rabies

Duplin County Animal Services is reporting a fourth rabies case discovered in the county.

The latest case was reported Tuesday from a raccoon on White Oak Bridge Road in Mount Olive, .7 miles from North Duplin Elementary School, Duplin County Animal Services reported on its Facebook page.

The first case of rabies happened around July 7 when a fox attacked a girl. Since then, two other rabies cases were reported by Duplin County Animal Services, one from a raccoon in the Rivenbark Town Road area on July 10 and another from a raccoon on Northeast Center Street in Calypso on July12 . No further information has been released.
