West Nile-Carrying Mosquitos Found Plano; Spraying To Follow

The city will spray a target area on Monday at 9 p.m. in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus.

PLANO, TX β€” A mosquito found in a trap in Plano has tested positive for West Nile Virus, the city announced Friday in a press release.

In response, the city will spray for mosquitos in a target location around the area where the virus was found.

Weather permitting, the spraying will take place on Monday, July 30, beginning at 9 p.m. The following areas will be sprayed:

  • Bob Woodruff Trail/Rockbrook Drive (North)
  • Hillridge Drive (South)
  • Valencia Drive/ Hendrick Dr. (East)
  • Judy Drive (West)

Residents are asked to ensure children and pets are indoors at the time of the spraying.

Mosquitos and the West Nile Virus can be prevented by draining standing water around the home, dressing appropriately to protect the skin, wearing bug spray with DEET when outdoors.
