Arguably the favorite to win EVO 2018's Super Smash Bros. 4 championship will no longer be competing this weekend. Leonardo "FOX|MkLeo" Lopez Perez has dropped out of the tournament.

Leo made the announcement on Twitter earlier today. The top Smash 4 contender cites a case of Chickenpox as his reason for skipping this year's fighting game Super Bowl.

"Sadly I wont be able to go to EVO due that I got Chickenpox a week ago," Leo's tweet reads. "I thought i still had a chance to go cuz I feel better now but this is contagious so i cant even leave home.

"I will be ready and fine next week for SSC hopefully! Sorry if you wanted to see me win... Have fun."

Though Chickenpox is an infection that mainly affects children, adults are capable of getting it too. 90% of all Chickenpox cases occur in young children, but if you haven't had it before you're susceptible to it.

Chickenpox sees the person afflicted with it covered in an extremely itchy rash that results in red blisters. According to WebMD, it takes about two weeks to recover from the infection.

MkLeo is one of the strongest Super Smash Bros. 4 players on the circuit today. The Echo Fox-sponsored competitor is known for having the best Marth, Cloud, and Meta Knight within the tournament scene.

With great player strength often comes great tournament results, and MkLeo has those in droves. A plethora of 1st place victories at major tournaments fill MkLeo's Super Smash Bros. 4 resume, with his most recent huge win being 1st place at CEO 2018.

It is truly unfortunate that we won't see MkLeo compete at this year's EVO. We wish him a speedy recovery.

EVO 2018 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 3rd through the 5th.
