Karnataka tops list of states with 8,000 Chikungunya cases

As per the latest reports on 31 July 2018, Karnataka has the highest reported cases of Chikungunya in the country with as many as 8,644 verified cases. As per the data submitted to Parliament on 10 August, 50% of the total 17,311 cases of Chikungunya in the country are reported from Karnataka. Karnataka had topped the list last year as well. The data shows that no lessons seems to have been learnt to stop the spread of the virus. The most affected areas in Karnataka are Dakshina Kannada, Haveri, Tumakuru, Udupi and Bengaluru. Maharashtra and Gujarat were second and third, respectively, on the list.
