Some residents in Alachua are without water after a water main broke Sunday afternoon.

The affected areas include all residencies around the intersection of State Road 235 and County Road 241.

According to Communications and Executive Project Manager Mike DeRoza, the damage was caused due to uneven settling of the ground due to excessive rain.

Maintenance crews are experiencing repair delays as the location of the damage AIS under a large tree. DeRoza estimates that the main should be fixed by late Monday afternoon.

Residents in the affected areas are under a boil water order until the repairs are made. Notices will be placed on the doors of affected houses when the water is safe to use again.

UPDATE:

All repairs have been made at this time. There are some areas near SR235/CR241 area that are under std. boil water notice.
