A number of supermarkets have issued urgent product recalls affecting a number of items.

Products have been recalled from the big name supermarkets' shelves following a number of allergy and food alerts including a deadly listeria basteria scare.

Items on the list include fruit juice, breakfast biscuits, sugar and smoked salmon.

Shoppers are being asked to check to see if they have any of these products, which can be purchased from a range of supermarkets including Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's, at home.

Anyone who does have these items is being urged to double check and return the product to store for a full refund if necessary.

Smoked salmon listeria warning

A batch of smoked salmon has been recalled after it contains bacteria which cause flu symptoms.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced that Ewing Seafoods is recalling its Organic Smoked Salmon because it contains Listeria monocytogenes.

A spokesman for the FSA said: "Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

"However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

"Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems."

What batch is affected?

Listeria monocytogenes has been found in two batches of Organic Smoked Salmon.

As a precautionary measure, Ewing Seafoods is recalling further batches of Organic Smoked Salmon and Original Recipe Smoked Salmon, as they may also be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

No other Ewing Seafoods products are known to be affected.

What do I do if I have this?

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

You should return the product to the store you bought it from with your receipt.

Filled breakfast biscuits

Sainsbury's own-brand breakfast biscuits have been recalled because they may contain an allergen which is not declared on the label.

The supermarket's Coconut & Yogurt Filled Breakfast Biscuits and Cocoa Filled Breakfast Biscuits could contain sesame.

The recall is affecting 186g boxes of both biscuits.

In packs with these codes, all date codes are affected.

If you have bought these products and have an allergy or intolerance to sesame, you can return them to your nearest store and receive a full refund.

No other products have been affected by this recall.

Quorn

Quorn burgers

Quorn is recalling packs of 2 Gluten Free Burgers because they contain undeclared gluten which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten.

No other Quorn products are known to be affected.

This means the product is a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk. No other Bradbury & Son (Buxton) products are known to be affected.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to sesame. No other Asco Foods Ltd products are known to be affected.

Tropicana

As a precautionary measure, PepsiCo is undertaking a recall of its Tropicana Trop 50 Multivitamins Juice, due to fermentation.

This is causing spoilage of the implicated batch. No other PepsiCo products are known to be affected.

Spoilage of the product. Bottles may appear bloated, sediment may be present, or the juice may taste fizzy. The flavour of the product is also likely to be noticeably impacted.
