SURAT: One case of swine flu has been detected in Rander area of the city. The health department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday shared the case details of the patient after he was found to be infected with H1N1 infection.The 44-year-old man was admitted to a private hospital on Thursday with complaint of cough and cold. He was put under medication after he tested positive for swine flu. The patient had shifted to the city with his family a month ago and earlier worked at a construction site.During inspection of his house and neighbourhood, health department team found two of his family members having cough. They were given medicines for flu. The health officials also checked those living in the neighbouring houses. However, no suspected case of H1N1 was found.“We have set up an isolation ward at Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) as a precautionary measure and instructed private hospitals to prepare wards to tackle swine flu cases. Our rapid response teams are also ready to address any suspected cases of H1N1,” said A K Naik, deputy commissioner, health, SMC.
