Doctors in Perry County are reporting they have already seen multiple cases of flu this month.

The 2017 flu season was particularly severe in Kentucky, with a death toll that reached 100 in February, including 4 children.

Dr. Mitchell Wicker at the ARH Hazard Clinic says the early cases should drive home the importance of getting vaccinated against the flu this season.

"If anything it should tell people that you really need your flu vaccine. When you get the flu vaccine it's going to take about two weeks to become effective, so the longer you wait, the more time you're adding on."

WKYT spoke with one doctor’s office in Lexington that reported they aren't scheduled to receive the vaccine for a few more weeks.
