Pittsfield will be spraying to kill mosquitoes to minimize West Nile Virus risk in the city.
The Department of Public Health this week confirmed the presence of West Nile in 15 mosquito samples collected in Pittsfield.
There have been five human cases of West Nile in Massachusetts this season, all in the eastern part of the state.
DPH said only one percent of infected people will develop severe illness.
Pittsfield has a scheduled a truck mounted spray application to reduce the mosquito population Tuesday from 10 p.m. to midnight.
