SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Some residents of South Kingstown and Narragansett are in their third day of a boil water order and it could be days before the problem is fixed.
Health officials say E.coli bacteria was detected in five public water systems, and 38,000 customers are affected.
On Sunday, Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency announced the opening of a public water filling station at the Kingston Fire Station at 35 Bills Road.
They said people who need water can fill their own containers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Health Department tells us, it is working with the water companies to locate the source of contamination and correct the problem. It will lift the boil water advisory only after three consecutive days of clean test results.
