The city of Frisco will continue using larvicide and increase mosquito surveillance efforts after one mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The area to be treated is near Northwest Community Park, north of Panther Creek and Teel parkways.

This is the first West Nile Virus-positive pool found in Frisco this year. No human cases have been reported yet.

With recent rains residents should remember to drain standing water around their homes, Frisco’s Environmental Health Supervisor Julie Fernandez said in a news release.

The city began testing mosquito pools May 1 and will continue testing through the second week of November.
