Campylobacter discovery prompts recall of raw unpasturised milk

September 3, 2018

Batches of raw milk from a farm in Northland are being recalled as the milk contains Campylobacter.

BOI Farming Ltd trading as Bella Vacca Jerseys is recalling specific batches of its Bella Vacca brand raw unpasteurised drinking milk, the Ministry for Primary Industries says in a notice on its website.

The milk, in 750ml glass bottles, is delivered to directly to customers or sold from the farm on Pokapū Road, RD1 Kawakawa.

The product is not exported.

The batch numbers being recalled are: 270818, 280818, 310818, 010918 and 030918.

They have use by dates of 27, 28 and 31 August, 2018 and 1 and 3 September 2018.

This recall does not affect any other batches of Bella Vacca raw milk.

MPI says customers are asked to check the batch and date mark on the sticker on the lid of the bottle and the affected product should not be consumed.

There have been no reports of illness, however if anyone has consumed any of this product and have any concerns about their health, they should seek medical advice.

Customers should return the products to their retailer for a full refund.

MPI has advice on how to reduce the risk of illness if you drink raw unpasteurised milk .
