Boil order issued for Rogers customers

ROGERS -- A boil order has been issued for Rogers Water Utilities customers from the Prairie Creek area to east of the Arkansas 12 bridge over Beaver Lake, according to a news release.

Areas along Arkansas 12 east of Dream Valley Road including Beaver Shores and in and around Prairie Creek are also affected, the release says.

"As a precaution, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water be used for making ice. As an alternative, bottled water may be used," the news release states.

The boil order is a precaution because of a loss of pressure that resulted from repairs made on a broken main on Arkansas 12 east of the bridge this morning.

The boil order will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected, an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, the release states.

Customers may contact Brent Dobler, superintendent at Rogers Water Utilities, with questions at 479-936-5406.
