(KUTV) -- The Weber-Morgan County Health Department is investigating an outbreak of norovirus in Ogden.

The outbreak occurred at a large gathering on Aug. 22.

About 50 people reported being sick after the event, according to Lorio Buttars with the health department.

Several physicians tested some of the patients and confirmed they had norovirus.

The health department has not determined the source yet, according to Buttars.

The main dishes at the gathering were catered and the sides were provided by people at the party.

There have been no other reports not associated with this particular gather, therefore, the health department believes it's contained.

The Davis County Health Department is currently monitoring the schools in the Davis County School District for any unusual peaks of absenteeism but there are no lab confirmed cases of norovirus. The district said this isn't a new or novel illness and is often called the stomach flu.
