(KUTV) — A school in Tooele County is the latest to report a confirmed case of the norovirus outbreak that previously hit Utah County schools and Jordan School District in Salt Lake County, according to a letter sent to parents.

"Norovirus is an extreme infectious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea, which can affect a large group of people in a short period of time," the letter sent to parents from Bonneville Academy in Stansburry Park, Utah, said.

"Local health departments are asking parents of children who have become sick to not send children to school until three days after symptoms of the virus have ended."

There was also an investigation into a possible outbreak at a large gathering in Ogden.

After the initial report from Utah County, Alpine School District said 658 kids stayed home from six different schools in those areas. That’s about a 10 percent drop in attendance.
