Viral meningitis reported at Genesee County School

CLIO, Mich - The Clio Area School district reports a case of viral meningitis at Edgerton Elementary School.

The school district says the individual diagnosed with viral meningitis will not be back in the school until a doctor has provided clearance to return.

The symptoms of viral meningitis are fever, severe headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to bright lights, drowsiness, or confusion, and nausea and vomiting.

The school district reports as a precaution, the custodial staff will disinfect all surfaces within Edgerton Elementary in addition to the normal nightly cleaning procedures.

All Tuesday afternoon school activities were cancelled.

The district is also deep cleaning it's busses.

The district encourages students to remember to wash their hands regularly.
