(MENAFN) A new South Wales State Ambulance spokesperson declared that a chemical leak at a luxury Sydney hotel has left eight people hospitalized and 24 more receiving medical care at the scene.
The spokesperson added that the guests at the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park Hotel were diagnosed with eye irritation and breathing problems".
Four fire engines and 16 firefighters were dispatched to the incident on level 20, 21 and 22 of the building at about 9:00 a.m. local time this morning after a strong smell was reported.
The spokesperson confirmed: "It happened on the pool level area," while "Someone was doing some kind of work on the pool and apparently there was a mixture of chemicals that did not mix well together."
