This video shows passengers on a flight from Ibiza to Glasgow applaud as the plane safely touches down on Scottish soil during the storm.

But this was after worse-for-wear flyers were vomiting and crying during turbulence in the last 45 minutes as they jetted home from the party island.

Jamie Shuttleworth, who had been on the TUI flight with his girlfriend Ashley and her mum, tells how passengers were vomiting and in tears as the plane was gripped by 80 mile-per-hour winds.

He told Glasgow Live : "It was good weather for the first two hours. But then we could see grey skies as we approached Scotland.

"The plane kept going up and down and it felt like was going to turn 180 degrees at one point. It dipped for half a second but it would feel like a lifetime. Everyone was chalk white and you could hear people being sick. People were passing baby wipes around.

"My girlfriend's mum was crying because she was so scared."

Jamie, 26, tells how the pilot took two attempts to land, with winds shaking the aircraft and causing it to turn at an angle.

But the relief was palpable when the plane hit the tarmac running and passengers broke out in cheers.

He added: "The pilot said over the tannoy 'I know a lot of you will have been sick, so just leave those behind on your seats. The smell was awful.

"We saw a group of guys who had been drinking earlier on the flight in the terminal and they looked like the hangover had just hit them. One was spewing all over the floor."

It's hard enough coming back from Ibiza on a smooth flight for most holidaymakers... We hope everyone is now well on their way to recovery.
