Macau | Tuberculosis cases up in August – Health Bureau

Macau (MNA) – The Health Bureau (SS) reported a total of 52 cases of tuberculosis in August, which was an increase from the same time last year, according to the latest release on infectious diseases affecting the city.

Three cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) were also recorded during the month, as well as one case of imported dengue fever and one case of imported measles.

The SS has indicated that there is a high risk of dengue fever occurring in the city due to heavy rainfall,  and  urg es residents to take preventive measures and hygiene.

In total, the Bureau recorded some 596 cases during the month under review.

Other occurrences of infectious disease include 27 cases of salmonella, 51 cases of varicella, 12 cases of scarlet fever, 171 cases of enterovirus, 2 cases of mumps, 239 cases of influenza and 15 cases of food poisoning.

At present, 44 types of infectious diseases are tracked by the Bureau, being subject to compulsory declaration.
