Mosquitoes found in Salem tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The city health district issued a warning Thursday for all people who live in the area to protect themselves against mosquitoes bites until the first frost.

No human cases of West Nile Virus or other mosquito-borne diseases are being reported in Columbiana County.

So far, 23 cases of West Nile Virus have been reported across Ohio, including three in Stark County and one in Trumbull County, along with 17 cases of West Nile in horses in other counties.

Officials wouldn’t reveal the exact location of where the infected mosquito was captured but we know it happened on the northwest side last week.

Health officials also issued an alert last week for mosquitoes with West Nile found in Lisbon.
