WORCESTER — City officials have been informed that West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected in the city.

The risk to people living in Central Massachusetts remains moderate, according to the state Department of Public Health.

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project is scheduled to spray in two neighborhoods off Massasoit Road, and the area of South Quinsigamond Village on Sept. 25 to reduce the mosquito populations.

Residents may opt out of spraying of their property by contacting the state's website at www.mass.gov.
