AHMEDABAD: Three more deaths due to swine flu have been reported in the city till September 22. The deceased include a 65-year-old male from Ramol, a 48-year-old women from Nikol and 66-year-old man from Ghatlodia.
No sooner did the monsoons subside there has been a steady rise of swine flu cases in the state. Since January this year a total of 165 swine flu cases were recorded of which 127 cases were reported in the month of September alone.

In all 23 deaths due to H1N1 virus have been recorded since January this year, 14 of these fatalities occurred in September (till September 22) alone.
Health authorities have already stepped up awareness activities in various wards of the city.
A senior Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health official told TOI that festivals like Ganesh immersion could have led to the spike in cases.
“We are increasing our surveillance and conducting awareness activities ahead of the Navratri festivities to report swine flu symptoms early,” said the AMC health official.
