Two confirmed flu cases in Monroe County

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Two cases of influenza have been confirmed in Monroe County.

Monroe County Senior Health Educator John Ricci said the cases were reported within the last two weeks.

Ricci also said seeing confirmed flu cases in late September is not unusual. Cases typically are starting to pop up around this time.

The Monroe County Health Department usually begins consistently releasing tracked reports about confirmed cases of influenza in the beginning of October. The fluenza surveillance typically ends in late April.

In the 2017-2018 flu season, 19 people died from the flu in Monroe County.There were more than 7,300 confirmed cases.
