A male polio worker was injured as unidentified persons attacked him with sticks at Kari Khaisor area here on Wednesday.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Sep, 2018 ) :A male polio worker was injured as unidentified persons attacked him with sticks at Kari Khaisor area here on Wednesday.

A polio worker Sajid son of Khadim Hussain was performing his duty as part of a three- day anti polio-campaign when unidentified persons ambushed him with sticks at village- Sardarwalla and left injured.

The attackers managed to escape and the injured was taken to nearby hospital. Police registered the case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, the government has tightened noose around quacks and taken measures to eliminate spurious and substandard medicines across the province.

A team led by Chief Drug Inspector Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Suleman Jalal raided private hospitals and inspected facilities being extended to patients in those facilities.

During inspection nine X-ray and CT scan laboratories were sealed for being found substandard and issued 16 show causes to different health centers in this regard.

The team which comprised Drug inspector Dera region Arbab Rehmat Alam and Latif Khan from Kohat region directed 42 clinics to ensure adequate stocks of required medincines.

Moreover, the team also directed for establishment of ICU and blood banks in hospitals and warned that heavy fines would be imposed for those violting the government's directives for private clinics.

They said that drive had been launched against quacks and illegal private clinics and hospitals as per directives of Chief Executive Officer, KP in order to provide best health facilities to masses.

It also asked doctors to fulfill legal requirements and obligations and get them registered with the health commission.

It also called for smooth supply of standard medicines, as sometime patients had to purchase rare medicines at high costs due to supply shortage of medicines in market.

The team said action would be taken against those pharmaceuticals companies, distributors and owners of medical stores who were involved in such unscrupulous business practices.

It also called upon the masses to identify such companies which were involved in illegal business practices to purge the market from fake medicines, if any and ensure supply of standard medicines.
