LUCKNOW: Five cases of dengue were reported from the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, taking the tally of affected patients to 87 since January this year.
All cases, verified by the unit of vector-borne diseases control at the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), reportedly had no travel history before falling ill.
The cases included a 24-year-old woman from Triveninagar, a 28-year-old woman from Gadbadjhala in Aminabad, 36-year-old man from Hariharnagar in Chinhat, 31-year-old man from Model House locality and a 34-year-old man from Gandhinagar in Telibagh.

"We are continuously monitoring the situation and have controlled the mosquito-borne disease to an extent this year as compared to last year. It is not possible to completely eradicate the menace from the environment but we are doing our bit by fogging, larvicidal spraying, issuing notices and public awareness programmes," said in-charge of the vector-borne diseases control unit, Dr KP Tripathi.
