VIGAN CITY -- The Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday, September 27, that the worst may now be over for the Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) as the string of dengue cases has already been cut.
Speaking at the DOH Media Forum in Ilocos Sur, DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo said it appears the situation at the PCMC is already under control.
“There have been no new cases among our health workers,” said Domingo.
Out of the 1,018 PCMC employees, 15 contracted the virus, including one who died.
There has also been no PCMC patient who contracted the disease while confined at the pediatric hospital in Quezon City.
Domingo said their epidemiological investigation is zeroing in on the construction site near the hospital compound as the possible mosquito breeding site.
“It appears that the suspicion is really the construction site,” he said.
"Let us wait for the report of our entomologists if they have already identified the area,” he added. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
