Macau | Second local case of dengue fever registered – Health Bureau

Macau (MNA) – The Health Bureau has announced a new local case of dengue fever.

The case was diagnosed in a 65-year old man, who first presented symptoms such as headache, sore throat and joint pain on September 24, having initially sought medical assistance on the Emergency Centre of the Islands on September 26.

The same day, cutaneous eruption led the man to seek further assistance from the Public Hospital Conde de Sao Januario (CHCSJ), with results from tests on September 28 showing he was contaminated with type three dengue fever.

Considering the patient had not traveled in the 14 days before he manifested any symptoms of the disease, the health authority categorized his as the second local case of dengue in 2018.

The man’s clinical state is current stable, with some of the relatives who live with him having manifested fever symptoms and been sent for checking to the health services.

The Bureau asks residents to remain alert and eliminate stagnant water from home and working places.
