Ahmedabad: Class 10 student succumbs to dengue

"The dengue related cases in Ahmedabad city have registered a 100% increase in the month of September. AHMEDABAD: A class ten student of Shanti Asiatic School in Ahmedabad succumbed to dengue late on Monday nightMedical health officer,Bhavin Solanki confirmed the death of the student and added that the health department team of AMC carried out checks in the school and even at his residence. As against 197 cases registered during September 2017, there were 396 cases in September 2018.The officials said not only dengue, but cases of chikungunya cholera and typhoid have also increased in the city. "The child's family was staying on the 12th floor, but there was breeding of mosquito in the parking and in his school campus too. In all the education institutes and schools, a fine of more than Rs five lakh have been collected.

We cannot say with authority from where the child might have been affected, but there is a need to carry out checks by the concerned authorities,” he said.Solanki said that townships should have a dedicated person whose job should be to check such breeding and even take up fogging at regular intervals. He further said, “We have been carrying out checks and re-checks in schools and have found that breeding was always there despite the authorities issuing fines.
