SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Department of Health has confirmed a case of West Nile Virus in a person in Suwannee County.

Health officials have not specified where the person lives.

DOH-Suwannee is reminding residents and visitors to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and to take precautions to help limit exposure. For more information and tips on how to protect yourself, visit

The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office's Division of Emergency Management has limited supply of PreStrike mosquito larvicide available for residents who would like to treat standing water on ttheir property. Residents can call SCSO at (386) 364-3405 for more information.
