Fall rabies vaccination clinic Saturday

Jon Soles

Part of responsible pet ownership is making sure your dog or cat is properly vaccinated against the rabies virus. Cumberland County Environmental Health will offer a convenient, affordable rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday.

The clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Public Health Center, 1235 Ramsey St. The cost is $10 per animal. To remain properly immunized, a dog or cat must receive two rabies vaccinations one year apart, then one vaccination every three years thereafter. Non-compliance with state laws for pet vaccinations could result in a civil penalty of $100.

During the clinic, please keep your dog on a leash. Cats owners are advised to keep their cat inside a carrier or cage and remain in their vehicle. This will make it easier for a veterinarian to administer a vaccination to the cat. Only cash is accepted for payment. Please bring exact change and no rolled coins. For more information, call 910-433-3660.
