If you're not sick yourself, you probably know someone who is.

In this week's What's Going Around report, we're talking about one of the best ways to keep yourself healthy.

Dr. Susan Fedewa at 98pointsix Emergi-Center in Lansing says she's treating patients with various types of viral and bacterial infections.

She says the best way to prevent sickness is frequent hand washing.

Fedewa recommends washing hands regularly throughout the day, especially after using the bathroom and before eating.

She says using antibacterial soaps are not more effective at killing germs than regular soap and could actually lead to bacteria-resistant germs.

Fedewa says we should wash for at least 20 seconds each time, scrubbing our hands up to the elbows.
