The Big Spring School District is making sure no more students come down with MRSA.

The district says two high school students had possible cases of MRSA skin infections in the past few weeks.

Big Spring says it has thoroughly cleaned the locker rooms and it conducts weekly checks on its football players.

Students have been instructed not to share towels in locker rooms.

MRSA, or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, is more difficult to treat than most staph infections because it’s resistant to some commonly used antibiotics.
