Sheep Mauled By Black Bear In Lyme: Report

Black bear sightings are on the rise in the state, according to authorities.

LYME, CT — Lyme resident Jason Bjornberg was forced to put down a sheep he owns after a black bear mauled it in an attack late last month, writes The Day.

No other injuries were reported, but after the initial attack, the bear returned prompting a tense moment before Bjornberg was able to scare it off, he recounted to the publication.

The black bear sighting was the fifth in Lyme in recent months, as the bear population in Connecticut continues to rise, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
