MADURAI: Three women died of H1N1 infection in two different hospitals in Tamil Nadu in the last two days.
Meenakshi, 41, wife of Kasimayan of Karumbalai was admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai on Friday morning with high fever. She died on Friday evening.
Health department sources said it was a confirmed case of H1N1 infection. However, the woman had other complications, including diabetes and viral pneumonia, they added.
On Sunday evening, 70-year-old Veerammal of Anupanadi died in Government Rajaji Hospital.

Dean Government Rajaji Hospital Dr D Marudhupandian said Meenakshi had tested positive in tests conducted in the hospital while Veerammal had tested positive in another hospital and negative in the tests conducted in GRH.
“We will have to wait for other results to confirm Veerammal’s infection,’’ he said.
Teresa Josephine Rani, 60, a retired professor from Nagercoil, who had been admitted to Asaripallam Government Hospital in Kanyakumari on October 12 after she tested positive for H1N1 in a private hospital, died on Saturday evening, said deputy director of health services Dr Madusoodanan.
Sources said four people were undergoing treatment in Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai after testing positive for H1N1.
