Since the beginning of the year, 33,937 people have become ill with measles – 13,398 adults and 20,539 children.

Health officials say the incidence of measles among children remains high. The largest increase in the incidence of measles is observed in those areas where the level of coverage by the planned vaccination is the smallest (Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian, Lviv oblasts).

The risk of getting sick is also increasing due to children in schools and kindergartens. Therefore, it is very important for the children to be vaccinated on time in accordance with the Calendar of preventive vaccinations.

Most people suffered from measles in Lviv (total 6,718 people: 2,037 adults and 4,681 children), Ivano-Frankivsk (total 3,298 people: 911 adults and 2,387 children), Zakarpattya (only 3,251 people: 612 adults and 2 639 children), Odessa (only 2 501 people: 1 251 adults and 1 250 children), the city of Kiev (only 2,325 people: 1,453 adults and 872 children) and Ternopil (only 1,916 people: 694 adults and 1,222 children) areas.

Altogether, since the beginning of the year, fourteen people died of the complications of measles: ten children and four adults.
