This week’s recall roundup: Salmonella strikes again!

This week’s recall roundup from the UK and North America includes lead-filled curry powder and mislabelled snacks.

In the United Kingdom…

CSM Bakery Solutions has taken the precautionary step of recalling one batch of its 18 Chocolate Cornflake Cluster Mini Bites because the product might contain salmonella. This product has been distributed to Iceland Stores only. The Grocer Ltd is recalling its Spinach and Broccoli Soup because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

Waitrose has recalled its Normandy Pork Casserole because some packs may contain a Madeira sauce sachet that contains milk which is not mentioned on the label. Espresso Warehouse is recalling two Wooden Spoon products, Gluten Free Chocolate & Pear biscuits and Lemon Melt biscuits because they contain soya, milk and wheat (gluten) which are not emphasised correctly on the label. 

ASDA is recalling ASDA Frozen Smooth Mashed Potato because a small number of packs may incorrectly contain potato croquettes instead of mashed potato. Potato croquettes contain wheat (gluten), which is not mentioned on the label. Dunnes Stores is recalling one batch of slow roasted turkey slices from its Northern Ireland Stores as the product has been labelled with an incorrect ‘use by’ date. John & Pascalis Ltd is recalling two types of Four Seasons Sesame Tahini because the products contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts. 

In North America…

In Canada, Original Foods Ltd. is recalling Original Foods brand Marshmallow Brooms and MallowBats from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled products. SK Food Group is recalling Jenny Craig brand Chicken BBQ Wrap due to possible Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella contamination. Uhrenholt Group/Richstone Fine Foods is recalling Emborg brand Pizza Style Dairy Shreds from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. 

In America, a high level of lead content meant that UBC Food Distributors Inc have recalled their Barakah Hot Curry Powder, and Curry Powder. Shirley’s Cookie Company Inc. of Claysburg, PA, is recalling its 16 ounce packages of “Chocolate Whoopie Pie” because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Sirob Imports, Inc of Lindenhurst, NY have recalled, Corrado, Orlando Imports, Nouri’s Syrian Bakery, Mediterranean Specialty Foods Brand and Butera Fruit Market Curry Powder because it contains elevated levels of lead.
