Nebraska has 230 cases of West Nile in 2018, its most since 2006

The State of Nebraska has seen 230 reported cases of West Nile virus in 2018, according to a release from the state's Department of Health and Human Services. 

The total is the state's highest since 2006 when there were 264. Before that, the state saw 1,994 cases and 27 deaths in 2003. This year, the state has had 11 reported deaths, which is the most since 2003. 

In 2017, the state had 68 reported cases and one death caused by West Nile.
