Children's death: PFA foils restaurant's attempt to shift expired edibles to other place

The restaurant management was shifting expired frozen meat and beverages to some other place.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – In a latest progress in the case of two children deaths, Sindh Food Authority (SFA) has foiled the attempt of restaurant authority to safe their expired edibles by shifting them to an unidentified place.

According to details, the restaurant management was shifting expired frozen meat and beverages to some other place when SFA raided the area and seized the food items.

While talking to media, the father of the children expressed satisfaction over the police report revealing that the kids fell ill after consuming unhygienic food at the restaurant or playland.

On the other hand, the postmortem report also revealed that no signs of torture were found on the bodies of the minors and they died of food poisoning.

The investigation officer have arrested three suspects of the case, however, further investigation is still underway.

The officer added that statement of kids’ mother is important to reach the cause of deaths but she is in critical condition and still under treatment.

The tragic incident of children’s death after consuming unhygienic food at a local restaurant in Zamzama area, was reported in Karachi on Sunday. The two children were five and one-year-old.

Earlier, SSP South Peer Muhammad Shah had reported that a woman and her two children had eaten substandard food and the family latter bought candies from a stall at a children’s playland in Defence Phase-IV four area.

The three fell ill in wee hours of Sunday and were rushed to hospital at around 12 noon where children expired.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah and Sindh IG had taken notice of the incident. Meanwhile, Sindh Food Authority (SFA) Director had submitted initial report to Sindh CM stating that 12 samples have been collected through the hotel.
