Sean O’Malley suspended six months by NSAC following positive drug test

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight phenom, Sean O’Malley, will be sidelined six months (retroactive to Oct. 6) following a disciplinary suspension handed down by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) in the wake of today’s hearing in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s according to a report from MMA Junkie, which also indicated that “Sugar” will need to cough up $472.42 in costs and fees. O’Malley flunked his out-of-competition drug test last September and got yanked from his Jose Quiñonez fight at UFC 229 (more on that here).

He’ll also need to settle his case with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

O’Malley (10-0) punched his ticket to UFC superstardom — literally — by stiffening Alfred Khashakyan on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. In two trips to the Octagon, the 24 year-old striker put together back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Terrion Ware and Andre Soukhamthath.

During his time off, “Sugar” will be rehabbing his surgically-repaired hip, a procedure that came not long after mending a bum foot.

See you next spring.
