Federal officials have scheduled a public meeting in Milton next week to discuss the Emerald Ash Borer beetle after the invasive species was discovered in Grant Isle County.

The beetle is likely in other locations within 10 miles of known infestations. The pest kills all types of ash trees and Vermont's 160 million of them are now under attack and many will likely die in the next decade.

The meeting will discuss the species, the impacts of the quarantine, disposal options and more. It will be on November 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Milton Grange.
